Coronavirus – Should I Be Worried Yet?

wp-1583681436346639071209804699243.pngThe constant conversation in my household these days is that of the Coronavirus.  As I’m sure you are all aware already, with the constant media coverage of this possible pandemic, there is a dangerous virus going around that is making many people very sick and people are dying from this monster.  Now, I’m not one to jump on the bandwagon and start panicking.  In fact, I’m quite the opposite at this time.

I have always been a bit of a “germ-phobe” and have long had a routine of washing my hands often and sanitizing even more often.  So, when the CDC released their recommendations I was already in full compliance.  I’m not stressed at all, but my husband is losing sleep worrying about me getting sick because I do have a compromised immune system due to the medications that I take.

wp-15836814361926557510220438967005.jpgI am one of the Americans that are currently recommended to avoid interactions and public outings whenever possible.  Unfortunately, I have a full-time job in a restaurant, and can not afford to take the time off of work right now.  I handle money from hundreds of strangers on a daily basis, and take public transportation to and from work and all of my errands.  I have children in public schools that could possibly be bringing God knows what home to me.  So the question today is, should I be worried yet?  Part of me thinks that the news is hyping this whole situation up way more than is necessary, but another part of me wonders if I’m foolishly ignoring the warnings.

One of the hardest parts of my autoimmune life is deciding when to worry and when to let go of things.  I already suffer with anxiety and worrying over the smallest little things, and quite frankly I don’t have time to sit around waiting to die of the newest health issue making its rounds.  The way that I see it:  I’m going to die of something eventually.  Whether it be Coronavirus or my actual diagnoses is not my concern today.  So I plan to keep on washing and sanitizing my hands, and live my life as if it will continue forever.

Stay safe out there people and for the love of all that is holy… WASH YOUR HANDS!
